We need you to be a Merit Badge Counselor for Troop 138!!!!

For those interested (and we need you) to become a Merit Badge counselor please check out the attached flyer.

Mr. Lempenau (Jim), Eagle Scout himself, has provided this awesome insight to us that will help our boys grow. We rely on Doc so often for counsel on assortment of badges for our boys, and he has been a godsend. Now we can expand the pool of counselors internally.

To qualify to be a merit badge counselor, you must

  • Be at least 18 years old and of good character.

  • Be registered with the Boy Scouts of America (position code 42).

  • Complete Youth Protection training.

  • Be recognized as having the skills and education in the merit badge subjects covered and hold any required qualifications and training as outlined in the Guide to Safe Scouting or the Guide to Advancement—or use others so qualified.

  • Be able to work with Scout-age youth. Visit the BSA site for a list of merit badges and see which ones you can counsel (you can to up to 10) that fit your experience. https://www.scouting.org/skills/merit-badges/all/ More importantly, if you have the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the the Eagle Badges you will be certainly paying it forward for our Troop.

And don't worry, if you only want to work with just our troop you can, or you can offer your expertise out to the other districts.

If you are currently a merit badge counselor, please let me know ASAP so I can get a record of it and share with out scouts as they seek to "rank up". I found out yesterday that Mr. Lempenau is a swimming, camping, and chemistry counselor. Add that to Doc's vast portfolio and Mr. Hill's and we have the makings of some real in house expertise to help the boys rank up.

But we still need you!
