Every year, Troop 138 collects dues from its members to pay for BSA Council registration fees, as well as fund the internal operating expenses. As we transition into 2025, it is time to collect our annual dues. With costs skyrocketing over the years, the need to fundraise to cover costs has also increased exponentially. However, interest and engagement in fundrasing efforts has waned and in many cases has receive lackluster engagement. Regardless, our troop costs need to be funded.
Before we make any decisions as to whether we raise dues to cover expenses in lieu of fundraising we want to hear from you as to your thoughts on this. We have heard some parents express they would rather pay on the front end instead of be responsible for fundraising and routinely "hitting up" there families, relatives, and friends to donate. Other parents believe that fundraising is a central component to scouting and each scout and family should be responsible for fundraising. Still others, believe that the troop could have a blend of both.
Regardless, the issue of operating costs do not go away and are getting more expensive so with that said, please complete the following survey by 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 19, 2024, so we can incorporate your feedback as to the way forward.
We are also looking for an Adult Parent to oversee the fundraising effort fot Troop 138. That person would be responsible for managing the effort and the engagement of our scouts.
