REMINDER: SCOUTMASTER CONFERENCES & BOARDS OF REVIEW

It recently came to our attention that scouts were unprepared for their scoutmaster conferences and boards of review.

Please ensure that you or your scout visits the of the website for specific guidance related to scoutmaster conferences and boards of review.

In particular, Troop 138 has been using the Scoutmaster Conference Worksheets (from Tenderfoot to Eagle) to assist with the Scoutmaster Conference and the following Board of Review.

Following are the procedures for requesting a Scoutmaster Conference for Tenderfoot through Eagle ranks.

1. Complete all requirements for rank prior to the Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review.

2. Request a Scoutmaster Conference by sending an e-mail to: troop138paramus@gmail.com.

3. Visit the “Library” page of our Troop website to download and print the Scoutmaster Conference Worksheets for the rank you are working on.

4. Fill out the Scoutmaster Conference Worksheets prior to the next Troop meeting.

5. Submit your Scoutmaster Conference Worksheets and Boy Scout Handbook to the Scoutmaster.

6. Your Scoutmaster Conference will be held with the Scoutmaster or an Assistant Scoutmaster that night during the Troop meeting.

Scouts should wear the full field (Class A) uniform for their Scoutmaster Conference. To confirm, a Scout must have all rank requirements completed before the Troop meeting. He needs to submit his Scoutmaster Conference Worksheet to the Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster. This includes being in good standing with the unit and participating in at least 50% of meetings and activities, or provide an acceptable reason as to why not.

The Board of Review is the last requirement a Scout must complete for rank. This takes place after a Scoutmaster Conference. The Board of Review is conducted by three to six members—no more and no less.

Scouts should wear the full field (Class A) uniform for their Board of Review and have their Boy Scout Handbook with the completion of all rank requirements recorded properly. They should also bring the completed worksheet they brought to their Scoutmaster conference as and aid to enhance the discussion.
