The Merk program

The MERK program was created in March of 2016. In the event of a natural disaster, a large- scale incident, people displaced from their homes, or at civic/community events, the Scouts, Venture Crew, and Cub Scouts of Paramus will mobilize and feed first responders, emergency personnel, police, firefighters, and victims.

The program functions as a venue for bringing Boy Scouts, Venture Crew, Explorer Post, Scouts, & Cub Scouts in touch with their community. We will mobilize to feed first responders, and people displaced from their homes. We are not limited to just emergencies. We will also support local events and other Council or Community needs.

We are a volunteer organization who gives our scouts and their parents/adults a firsthand experience in helping others. The program focuses on engaging our youth in helping and supporting the community, while learning from their experiences. The program engages our youth in paying attention to the world around them while supporting those faced with circumstances of catastrophic proportions. This allows the scouts and their parents/adults to see firsthand how their work will benefit others, while teaching teamwork, as they form lasting bonds with friends and families.
