Klondike Derby Last Minute Instructions

Administrator

Along with the notice that went out yesterday, please see the below:

Assistant Scout leaders Dom Rizzo and Dennis Anglani, and SPL J. Viger will be on site.

8:00 am - Meet at Oakdale Area, South Mountain Reservation, West Orange (corner of Northfield Ave and Cherry Lane)

9:00 am - Troop registration

Scouts need to pack their lunch, drink, and snacks.

Event is rain, snow, or shine! Dress warm!!1

The temperature will be in the mid 30's, with sun, but there may be some wind.  Further, the ground may be muddy. Please ensure your Scouts are dressed appropriately in layers and have the proper footwear considering the expected muddy conditions.

FROM THE GOVERNOR OF THE LTF KLONDIKE DERBY

Some recent questions I have received that I'd would like to highlight:

1) Please ensure each patrol brings a gallon of water with them to the registration table at 8AM. These donations are provided to the OA for the soup and hotdogs. The second gallon of water is for the patrol sled.

2) Sleds must NOT have wheels.

Your units should now be:

1) Finalizing registration and payments with Northern NJ Council -->  https://scoutingevent.com/333-88781

2) Securing last minute equipment.

3) Ensuring scouts know what to wear for the weather conditions.

4) Communicate to your scouts about the best patrol flag and Klondike Quiz Champion contests

5) Communicate that lunch is not provided, either cook or bring your own, or alternatively visit the OA station that will be fundraising by selling hotdogs and soup.

5) Reviewing the attached LTD Klondike Derby Guide with adult leaders and scouts.

6) Providing a copy of the maps and town listings to your patrols.

7) Organizing patrols and completing the attached patrol rosters for submission to the Klondike scoring team by the Patrol Leader upon registration at 8 AM SHARP on Saturday February 1st at the Klondike HQ Tent.

8) and most importantly, looking forward to a great time!

Hi,

I noticed last night the sled has wheels. Are you guys able to remove them for the race?
