Troop 138 Paramus
Scoutmaster Conference Process
Scoutmaster Conferences are conducted for all ranks and should be done once a Scout has completed all requirements for the rank he is working on. Additionally, a Scout should be prepared to demonstrate that he is in good standing with the unit and has participated in at least 50% of meetings and activities, or provide an acceptable reason as to why not. These conferences are an important part of rank advancement as they give both the Scout and the Scoutmaster an opportunity to meet and discuss the Scouts’ accomplishments, as well as look ahead to the next rank.
Troop 138 uses “Scoutmaster Conference Worksheets” to assist with the Scoutmaster Conference process starting with the rank of Tenderfoot. These worksheets are a great tool for both the Scout and the Scoutmaster. The worksheets allow the Scout to reflect on his accomplishments, give input for the betterment of his Patrol and Troop, and to formulate a plan to achieve the next rank.
Following are the procedures for requesting a Scoutmaster Conference for Tenderfoot through Eagle ranks.
-
Complete all requirements for rank prior to the Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review.
-
Request a Scoutmaster Conference by sending an e-mail to: troop138paramus@gmail.com.
-
Visit the “Library” page of our Troop website to download and print the Scoutmaster Conference Worksheets for the rank you are working on.
-
Fill out the Scoutmaster Conference Worksheets prior to the next Troop meeting.
-
Submit your Scoutmaster Conference Worksheets and Boy Scout Handbook to the Scoutmaster.
-
Your Scoutmaster Conference will be held with the Scoutmaster or an Assistant Scoutmaster that night during the Troop meeting.
Just to confirm, a Scout must have all rank requirements completed before the Troop meeting. He needs to submit his Scoutmaster Conference Worksheet to the Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster. This includes being in good standing with the unit and participating in at least 50% of meetings and activities, or provide an acceptable reason as to why not.
